Bulls aim to bounce back from controversial loss vs. Raptors

11/11/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Fresh off a controversial loss, the Chicago Bulls will try to quickly bounce back in tonight's clash with the Toronto Raptors from the Air Canada Centre.

Chicago had a three-game winning streak halted with last night's one-point defeat to Denver at the United Center, with the Nuggets' Chauncey Billups sinking the deciding free throw with 0.6 seconds left to give his team a 90-89 decision.

Billups intentionally missed the second of his two foul shots, and Chicago secured the rebound before calling time out with 0.3 seconds on the clock. The Bulls' Kirk Hinrich then inbounded the ball along the near sideline at midcourt and found a wide-open Brad Miller, who nailed a quick catch-and-shoot effort from the top of the key for an apparent game-winning basket.

The officials initially ruled Miller got the shot off before the game clock went off. However, after a lengthy gathering by the officials to review the courtside replay monitor, the call was overturned and Denver escaped with the victory.

The loss spoiled a tremendous game from the Bulls' Joakim Noah, who pulled down a career-best 21 rebounds to go along with 12 points. Derrick Rose scored a game-high 22 points for Chicago, which suffered its first home setback of the young season.

"I feel like, even the games we're losing, we're really competing every night," Noah said. "That's got to be the motto of this team -- to just go out there and give it everything we got every time we step on the court."

Toronto returns home off back-to-back losses in Texas that followed a 107-90 victory at New Orleans in Friday's opener of a three-game trek. The Raptors were routed by Dallas the following night, however, and came up short against the San Antonio Spurs Monday at the AT&T Center.

Chris Bosh amassed 32 points and 10 rebounds in Toronto's 131-124 loss to the Spurs, with Hedo Turkoglu and Andrea Bargnani netted 20 and 17 points, respectively.

Toronto held a 104-100 lead with just over nine minutes to go, but San Antonio embarked on a 17-5 run over the next five-plus minutes and held off the Raptors the rest of the way.

"We weren't hungry for it," Bosh said afterward. "I don't know if we underestimated them, but we didn't come out and play hard like we needed to play. I think the opportunity was there for us."

The Raptors will be making a brief stop at the Air Canada Centre, where the team has won two of its first three tests this season, before starting up a four-game West Coast trip Friday against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Chicago plays seven of its next eight on the road beginning with tonight's tilt and will be aiming for better recent results in this series. Toronto has taken seven of the last nine matchups between these teams, including three of four encounters last season, and the Bulls have lost in three of their past four visits to the Air Canada Centre.
